Deep Breathing

For those that don't know me from my own pages, of the contributors to this blog I am the one with the least writing experience.

Apart from a three chapter book, and an 8 chapter book in my pre and early teens, I only started writing again about six months ago. Since then I can pretty much still use both hands to count the number of times I've actually got my backside parked in a chair to begin this creative process.

So it came, somewhat as a surprise to me when in a meeting at work* the other day I actually managed to pen a whole short story. 2,500 words telling a tale. To some not worthy of note, to me a really big deal.

There's an even bigger step to all this though. I've allowed someone else to read it. Hence the deep breathing. I'm nervous. I've already spotted several places I can improve it, but I've still passed it to someone else, because despite the nerves, I'm keen to see what someone else thinks.
